Frequently Asked Questions

What is isotonic?

An isotonic solution has the same solute and water concentration as body fluids. Quinton Isotonic thus contains minerals and bioactive substances dissolved in seawater at a concentration identical to body fluids.

Can I take Quinton Sport if I have a shellfish allergy?

Crustacean allergen is tested in mg/kg with the result <20. The testing cannot detect if there are levels present that are less than 20 mg/Kg ppm. We recommend people with a shellfish allergy discuss with their doctor whether this product is safe for them.

What does Totum Sport taste like?

Derived from mineral rich phytoplankon blooms in the Atlantic Ocean, this product is 100% pure seawater and tastes salty. There are NO added sugars, additives, preservatives, or flavorings.

How is Totum Sport different from Totum Nite?

Totum Sport: Packed with up to 78 naturally occurring minerals and trace elements, Totum Sport provides complete hypertonic hydration and electrolyte replenishment, without any unhealthy additives or preservatives, to support the serious endurance athlete’s optimal athletic performance, muscle recovery, and sustained energy + focus.

Totum Nite: This isotonic solution mirrors the essential mineral and trace element composition of human blood plasma and is designed for recovery and nighttime use. It aids in restoring the body after intensive physical activities and promotes deeper, more restorative sleep.

How much Totum Sport can I take per day?

On average, athletes lose around 200 mg – 900 mg of sodium per liter of sweat per 60-90 minutes of exercise. Factors that can affect how much sodium is lost include sweat rate, sodium concentration and conditions. Knowing how much sodium you lose through sweat can help you develop a hydration plan and optimize your nutrition strategy. One 20 ml sachet of Totum Sport contains 210 mg of sodium. The suggested use for Totum Sport is one sachet prior to exercise, one during, and one post exercise.

Can I put Totum Sport in my water for mineralization?

Yes, you can add Totum Sport to your purified water, but many athletes find it more convenient to take the sachet straight.

Are there any contraindications?

Due to the presence of sodium (Na+), it is advisable to obtain medical supervision prior to beginning Totum Sport if you have been diagnosed with or suspect that one of the following applies to you: Hypertension, kidney failure, low sodium diet, or iodine intolerance. It is important to note that no adverse events have been reported.

Do your products contain sugar?

Our products do not contain added sugar. Some of our formulas contain small amounts of sweeteners such as maple sap syrup or Thaumatin (Katemfe fruit).

Do your products contain alcohol? What kind? How much?

We use alcohol in the form of ethanol. Ethanol is essential in liposomal stability and is present in all of our products in quantities at a amount less than 25%. The ethanol is fermented, then distilled and tested allergen free. The ethanol used in our products is non-GMO and derived from cane sugar.

Is corn used in the production of this ethanol?

We do not utilize corn for producing our ethanol; all of our ethanol is derived exclusively from cane sugar.

What is the shelf life of your products?

Shelf life for our products ranges from 12 to 24 months from the date of manufacture. Most of our products list the expiration date on the label, however those that are not yet updated will list the manufacture date. Please contact our Customer Experience team for more information on a specific product.

What is the dosage of your products?

Dosage will vary for each product and for every individual. All general dosing information is listed on the bottles’ label or can be found on each product page on the website. Please contact your healthcare practitioner if you have individual or in-depth dosing questions. We cannot provide medical advice.

How much liposomal liquid can be taken in a single serving?

We recommend taking no more than 1 tsp of liquid at a time to allow for more complete absorption in the mouth. Wait 2-3 minutes between each 1 tsp dose.

What is the PPM content in H2 Elite?

Up to 10 ppm. A video of how our hydrogen is tested can be found here.

Why do you use ethanol and glycerin in your products?

Ethanol and glycerin are integral aspects of nanoparticle chemistry. There are three main reasons we use these ingredients in our products:

  • Ethanol is used for softening the nanoparticle membrane when applying shear homogenization to our nano formulations. This is what gives our products the smallest particle size possible to increase their absorption bioavailability of ingredients.
  • Ethanol, in combination with glycerin, is used in the extraction and delivery of the nutrients. This is called hydroethanolic and has been used for centuries in herbalism to make tinctures and other herbal extracts.
  • Ethanol and glycerin are great preservatives and stabilizers. We have chosen these multi-faceted ingredients over less optimal preservatives that are often used in non-ethanol products such as potassium sorbate, sodium sorbate, sorbic acid, and parabens to name a few.

What is hypertonic?

A hypertonic solution contains a higher solute concentration and a lower water concentration than body fluids. A "solute" is a compound dissolved in a solvent, usually a liquid. The solute is present in smaller amounts than the solvent. In the case of Quinton Hypertonic, the solutes are minerals and other bioactive substances, and the solvent is seawater harvested from deep within the ocean. Source, Source
